How to get found when people ask YouTube

Get Found with Your Videos

TANYA SMITH

BRAND AUTHORITY STRATEGY

Google just gave your ideal client a new way to find you, and most coaches have not noticed yet.

It is called Ask YouTube. Instead of typing keywords, when this rolls out, people ask a full question and the AI takes them straight to the exact moment in a video that answers it. It handles detailed questions, suggests related videos and Shorts, and even takes follow-ups.

For now it will be limited to Premium subscribers in the U.S. who are 18 or older, with a wider rollout expected later this summer.

Here is what that means in plain terms. "How do I become the obvious choice in my field after 20 years in corporate?" is a search now. The coach whose video speaks to that exact moment gets found by someone who is ready to work.

That is exactly what I got into on last week's livestream.

Here is the thing to remember. Being good at what you do and being findable for what you do are two different skills. You spent years on the first. The second is newer, and it is not about posting more.

Ask YouTube rewards specific answers, not broad ones. When your best thinking lives in scattered posts and videos with vague titles, the AI has nothing to point to. When you answer one real question clearly, with a title that names it, you become the moment it surfaces.

Two more things... A clip can be pulled out of a longer video, so every section needs to stand on its own. And when someone lands on it, you want them to know who you are and what to do next. We need to think about better ways to add a simple call to action into the video itself, not just the description.

I broke down 3 key skills on Thursday, including the two that make your AI output sound like you instead of a stranger.
